Animated dancers  Let's face the music and dance!

Dance Alive! Seeks to create regular fun-filled and enriching socio-cultural events that will begin to turn:
  • Ignorance and misconceptions into understanding
  • Prejudice into acceptance and appreciation
  • Fear into trust and respect
  • Isolation into openness and connection.
Each Dance Alive! event is normally held on the first Saturday of each month, from 7 pm to 11 pm. Events also include some dance instruction. No admission is charged, but donations are accepted at the door.

Madison’s 28th Dance Alive!, a celebration of diversity and community through music and dance, will be held on Friday February 15 from 6:30 to 11:00 PM at Lakeview Lutheran Church (located just west of the Dane County Health Department at 1202 Northport Drive).

The celebration begins at 6:30 PM with Last Gaspé providing lively contra and square dance music with instruction and calling by Steve Pike.  The second half of the evening begins at 9:00 PM with Cajun Strangers playing traditional Cajun music until 11:00 PM.  Cajun dance instruction will be provided by Deb Bachmann,  In addition, at 8:30, the Vera Court Girl Neighborhood Power Drill Team will present a dynamic performance and teach us all a few steps.

This dance is a collaborative creation of Dance Alive! volunteers and Lakeview Lutheran Church.

A $5 to $10 donation to support the musicians and instructors will be accepted at the door.  Refreshments will be available for purchase from the church youth group.

Dance Alive! events welcome people of all ages, cultures, and abilities in a smoke-free, drug-free, alcohol-free, and barrier-free environment.
