Thomas W. Lovell (1946-2005)
Thomas William Lovell,
age 58, of Dodgeville, Wisconsin, died unexpectedly on Monday,
March 14, 2005, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in
Madison. He was born on December 11, 1946, in Springfield,
Illinois, a son of William M. and Lois (Johnson) Lovell. He
graduated from Bloomfield Hills (Michigan) High School in
1965. Thomas attended the University of Wisconsin and worked
with the plasma physics group of the Physics Department since
1967. He started as a part-time student employee and worked up
to engineering project manager/researcher. On December 18,
1971, he married Diana K. Way in Madison. Thomas is survived
by his wife, Diana K. Way of Dodgeville, Wisconsin; his son,
Aric M. Lovell Way of Madison; his mother, Lois J. Lovell of
Colorado Springs, Colorado; his brother, Richard J. Lovell of
Colorado Springs, Colorado; his daughter-in-law, Libby A.
Schmidt of Madison; his grandsons, Keith Schmidt-Way and
Philip Schmidt-Way, both of Madison; his surrogate daughter,
Sharon Y. Rice of Madison, and her sons, Brandon and Marcus;
his special friend, Angelina Schmidt of Stoughton, Wisconsin;
and by his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many nieces,
nephews, and other relatives and friends. A gathering of
family and friends was held at 4 pm on Friday, May 13, 2005 in
1300 Sterling Hall, 475 North Charter Street, Madison,
Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that
memorials be made to the National Coalition to Abolish the
Death Penalty, 920 Pennsylvania Avenue SE, Washington, DC
20003.
