Can You Draw This Alien?

I discuss the following alien in my book The Science of Aliens.

This drawing is from Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials by Barlow, Summers and Meacham (Workman Publishing) and should not be taken from this homepage for copyright reasons.

The Mesklinite is described in Hal Clement's Mission of Gravity. The Mesklinite is 40 centimeters long and five centimeters in diameter, with eighteen pairs of legs. Each leg ends in a suckerlike foot, enabling the Meslinite to tightly grip surfaces. Forward pincers function as hands, while a rear set is used for anchoring the creature. The creature has four eyes surrounding a mandiblelike mouth. Its body is chitinous. It lives on world with tremendous gravitational forces.
