These figures and the programs that produced them were produced and copyrighted by J. C. Sprott. They show properties of the system

x(i + 1) = 1 - 1.4f_a(x(i)) + y(i)
y(i + 1) = 0.3x(i)

where

f_a(x) = a|x| + (1 - a)x²
