Excerpts from User's and Reviewer's Comments on Chaos Data Analyzer

"I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your Chaos Data Analyzer program and what a difference this has made in my research. For a number of years I have been working with large time series data sets and have made a fair amount of progress, but this program makes a huge difference - the calculation of the Lyapunov exponents is fast, easy, and more or less, nails the lid on my argument. So not only is it facile - it gave the answers I predicted! I did not know that there was a professional version available when I ordered the original - so I called in my order for the professional version this morning. When you wrote the program, you probably did not expect it to be used for analyses of lizard body temperatures, but know your efforts have made a significant contribution to my work. Furthermore - I run it on a Mac Power PC, and it works great. Anyway, I just wanted to take a moment to say thanks for a magnificent effort, and I will be sure and tell my biology colleagues where to get this fine program." -- Richard G. Bowker, Professor of Biology, Alma College, Alma, Michigan

"This is very useful software for research and advanced courses on nonlinear systems" -- Marko Horbatsch, York University

"When I first ran this program, I was immediately impressed by the meticulous design and organization of both the Chaos Data Analyzer program and its graphics... I find the Chaos Data Analyzer to be a very useful program for both educational and research purposes. It offers novel methods of applying chaos science to data analysis." -- Mario J. Martinez, Robinson High School

"Chaos Data Analyzer is an excellent software which should be used by all instructors for demonstration purposes in upper level undergraduate and graduate courses." -- Dr. Kailash S. Chandra, Savannah State College

"This is a very nice collection of useful algorithms for looking quickly at time series data. It should be useful in both tutorial mode and in research." -- Ronald Stoner, Bowling Green University

"Program worked perfectly--I especially appreciated mouse support and ability to change graphics level within program. Excellent help and explanation screens. A very well constructed and thoughtful utility!" -- Edward Finkel, Fernbank Science Center

"Very fast and intuitive." -- B. Dieterle, University of New Mexico

"Fantastic data manipulation tools! The help screens are a real plus along with the programs. Wonderfully functional on my old and ancient laptop--easy to use and work with." -- Gary Bender, Tanana Junior High School

"Nice program! Fast; easy to use; gives a wide variety of information useful in analyzing potentially chaotic data; good teaching tool. The quality and power of this program needs communication to the potential users. A wider range of sample data files would make it more useful to students [over 40 such are included in the professional version]. This program should be shown at physics meetings; articles written about it; submit it for EDUCOM awards; anything to get the word out to users. A good program like this should not languish because of lack of advertizing." -- Eric T. Lane, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga

"An excellent complement of a teaching and modest research tool." -- Jay P. Kopp, Loras College

"This is a very nice package. The ability to create your own input data to be processed by the analyzer is a very useful feature. It takes 'chaos' out of the realm of textbooks and computer simulations and brings it into a wide range of every-day settings." -- Joseph G. Harrison, University of Alabama at Birmingham

"All features of this program performed as expected. ASCII data files from other programs could also be used (e.g. CHAOTIC DYNAMICS WORKBENCH by Roger Rollins). Choices of graphics format and color allow the display to be adjusted for good visibility on monochrome and notebook computers, as well as color monitors. The use of sound while plotting data is an unusual, but interesting feature. An excellent data analysis program!" -- Thurman R. Kremser, Albright College

"This program works well on color or B/W or LCD. It is a good tutorial--user friendly and logical. Works easily with user input data." -- Dr. Gerald B. Brandt, Mantis Solutions

"I think this is a very useful program, if used in conjunction with the CHAOS DEMONSTRATIONS software. It provides the tools to analyze in-depth a variety of features that might be of interest when studying the chaos phenomena." -- W. T. Sobol, UAB Hospital

"I found the program to run perfectly on this computer. All functions are usable and seem to work without any difficulty or problem. The internal documentation was especially useful. It adequately explained the program functions and directed the user through an understanding of the system. I strongly recommend this program to anyone who may use seemingly random data but would like to know if chaotic patterns are imbedded within the data." -- Joseph A. Chemworth, Highland High School, Salt Lake City

"I think it is a marvelous tool for those who choose not to write their own software for data analysis. I took CDA to the University of Seattle a couple of weeks ago and demonstrated it to members of the psychology department - they were very disappointed that I would not let them copy it." -- Gregory L. Baker, Academy of the New Church, Bryn Athyn, PA

"The program provides the user with a powerful collection of chaos-oriented analytical tools." --James B. Harold, University of Maryland
